E Ink Holdings Inc disclosed the design and specifications of Sony Corp's next electronic paper (e-paper) device using E Ink's electrophoretic display.

The e-paper device was exhibited at Display Taiwan 2013, a trade show of display technologies, which took place from June 16 to 20, 2013, in Taipei, Taiwan.

The device has a light weight because it uses plastic for its TFT array substrate instead of glass. The mass of the 13.3-inch display part is 60g, and that of the entire device is 358g.

It can display 16 levels of grayscale. The pixel count and resolution of the display are 1,600 x 1,200 and 150dpi, respectively. The display supports not only finger input but also stylus pen input.

The e-paper device is expected to be commercialized at the end of 2013, E Ink said. But it did not disclose the price of the device.
