Epson Imaging Devices Corp announced the "Photo Fine HR" semi-transparent amorphous silicon TFT LCD panel with improved outdoor visibility for use in mobile phones such as handy terminals and PNDs (personal navigation devices).
The LCD panel will come in two models, the 3-inch "L5F30878**" and 3.5-inch "L5F30914**." The company will start shipping samples of both models at the end of October 2008.
The reflectance of the Photo Fine HR is 6.5% according to omni-directional scattered light measurement. The luminance of the L5F30878** is 200cd/m2, while that of the L5F30914** is 220cd/m2. The contrast ratio of both models is 180:1 in transmissive mode. The L5F30878** and the L5F30914** have resolutions of 400 x 240 and 320 x 240 pixels, respectively, and they can display about 260,000 colors.
Epson Imaging Devices will exhibit these LCD panels at FPD International 2008, which will take place from Oct 29 to 31, 2008, at Pacifico Yokohama, Japan.
