Daiken Corp announced Aug 26, 2014, that it will release the "Grass Buster" weed proofing sheet using high-density fabric for solar power plants and residences.
The Grass Buster is highly lightproof and effectively prevents weed from growing by preventing photosynthesis, the company said. Compared with herbicides, etc, it enables to reduce the effort and cost of weeding while reducing environmental load.
The sheet consists of three layers, each of which is woven with a high density of about 4,000 strings/cm in the lengthwise direction and about 2,000 strings/cm in the crosswise direction. And it can cut more than 99.9% of light.
In addition, the sheet has a high water permeability, preventing rain water from being pooled on its surface and soil under the sheet from drying. Furthermore, it is flexible and hardly tears, enabling construction best suited to the land conditions of the construction site.
Daiken started to sell the product on a trial basis in the summer of 2013 and will officially release it Sept 1, 2014.
