Quattroe Japan Co Ltd, a Japan-based solar panel manufacturer, will release an antifouling solar panel that sprinkles water on itself within 2014.

The antifouling solar panel has a glass cover coated with a photocatalyst that breaks down dirt. However, because the decomposed dirt is washed off by rain, the antifouling effect lowers in low-rainfall areas.

The new product has an embedded water pipe on the upper side and sprinkles water periodically to wash away dirt. Also, it contributes to lowering the temperature of solar panel, preventing conversion loss caused by high temperatures.
