Japan Petroleum Exploration Starts Up 2.4MW Solar Plant in Hokkaido
Japan Petroleum Exploration Co Ltd announced that it has completed a 2.4MW solar power plant on the property of its Hokkaido Mine in Tomakomai City, Hokkaido, Japan, and started to sell electricity Aug 1, 2014.
On 38,737m2 of unused land, about 44,000 of CIS-based solar panels manufactured by Solar Frontier KK were installed. The total output capacity of the panels is about 2.4MW, and the total capacity of the PV inverters is 1.8MW. Chiyoda Corp provided design and construction services.
The plant is expected to generate about 2,500,000kWh of electricity per year, which is equivalent to the amount consumed by about 700 households. All the electricity generated will be sold to Hokkaido Electric Power Co Inc (HEPCO).
