SB Energy Starts Up 19.6MW Solar Plant in Osaka

SB Energy Corp announced that it will start operation of a mega (large-scale) solar power plant with an output of about 19.6MW in Izumiotsu City, Osaka Prefecture, Japan, July 17, 2014.

SB Energy is affiliated with the SoftBank group and runs a renewable energy business. The plant, "Softbank Izumiotsu Solar Park," is expected to generate 20,689MWh of electricity per year.

The plant was built on about 250,000m2 of land owned by the government of Osaka Prefecture. The power producer for the plant is Izumiotsu Solar Park (special purpose company or SPC), which is financed by Mitsui & Co Ltd and Kyocera Solar Corp (Kyoto City) in addition to SB Energy. The solar panels, PV inverters and mounting systems of the plant were supplied by Kyocera Corp, SMA Solar Technology AG and Kyocera Solar Corp, respectively.
