Hitachi Chemical Co Ltd announced June 26, 2014, that it will release the "wavelength conversion particle," which improves the efficiency of solar power generation, for the sealing sheets of solar cells.

The wavelength conversion particle developed by Hitachi Chemical has a function to convert short-wavelength light (ultraviolet light), which cannot be used for power generation, to long-wavelength light (visible light), which contributes to power generation. With a sealing sheet using the particle (wavelength conversion film), the conversion efficiency of a solar panel can be improved by up to 2.2%, the company said.
