Taiyo Holdings Co Ltd announced June 23, 2014, that it will enter the solar power generation business by building a 1.15MW solar power plant on water such as of a reservoir in Ranzan-machi, Hiki-gun, Saitama Prefecture, Japan.

Taiyo Holdings is still in negotiations to rent land for the plant. The installation area is estimated to be about 13,300m2. The amount of electricity generated at the plant is expected to be about 1.34MWh per year. The initial investment is about ¥450 million (approx US$4.42 million). The company intends to start power generation in early October 2015.

For the floating solar power generation system, Taiyo Holdings plans to employ a float manufactured by an Europe-based maker and solar panel and PV inverter manufactured by Japan-based firms.
