The government of Kawamata-machi, Fukushima Prefecture, and Toda Corp announced a plan for the reconstruction of the Yamakiya district (of Kawamata-machi), which was designated as an evacuated area after the nuclear accident at Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

According to the plan, a 2.317MW solar power plant will be built on a site of about 46,000m2 in the evacuated area, and profits from the sales of electricity generated at the plant will be used for reconstruction efforts.

Also, in the district, the government and Toda plan to build complex facilities including a clinic, medical/welfare facilities, disaster prevention facilities, community space, children's playground, etc so that local residents can quickly rebuild their lives after the designation is lifted.
