Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) Ltd developed a turbocharger that can be used for light vehicles, etc with an engine displacement of 1.0L or less and exhibited it at the 2014 Automotive Engineering Exposition, a trade show that took place from May 21 to 23, 2014, in Yokohama, Japan.

MHI reduced the number of turbine fins without changing the amount of supercharged air per engine revolution and reduced external size.

This time, the number of turbine fins was reduced from 11 to nine, and the diameter of the fins was reduced from 25mm to about 22mm. To keep the amount of airflow, the design of air passage was improved by carrying out the numerical analysis of airflow.
