Flux Residue Reduced by 60% for Solar Cells

Tamura Corp developed the "Ultra-low Residue Flux," a flux that is used in manufacturing solar cell modules.

The new product reduces the amount of white flux residue, which remains on cell surface and prevents the cell from receiving light, by 60%, compared with existing products. The company will start to ship samples and release the product in May 2014, focusing on China, which produces a large number of solar cells.

Considering that solid substances contained in flux such as rosin contribute to spreading residue, Tamura reduced the amounts of the solid substances, developed materials that do not remain as residues and added them to a flux. The new flux can remove oxides as well as existing fluxes, the company said.
