The construction of an 82MW mega (large-scale) solar power plant was completed in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, Japan.

A ceremony to celebrate the completion of the plant, "Oita Solar Power," was organized April 23, 2014. The power producer for the plant is Oita Solar Power Corp, a subsidiary of Marubeni Corp. The power plant site measures 105ha. The plant is expected to generate 87,000,000kWh of electricity, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by about 30,000 normal households, per year.

Oita Solar Power will be the largest-scale solar power plant in operation in Japan, surpassing the output capacity of "Kagoshima Nanatsujima Mega-Solar Power Plant" (about 70MW).
