Imai Mega Solar Oita Hoso Power Plant, which is affiliated with Imai Seisakusho Co Ltd, started to construct a mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant with an output capacity of about 11MW in Oita City, Oita Prefecture, Japan.
Imai Seisakusho (Kamijima-chou, Ehime Prefecture) is a manufacturer of components of ships. The affiliated company had a ground-breaking ceremony April 8, 2014.
For the construction of the mega-solar plant, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding Co Ltd rented 14.5ha of its unused land (20ha) in Hoso, Oaza, Oita City, to Imai Mega Solar Oita Hoso Power Plant. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding is also responsible for the design, construction and test operation of the plant.
The plant is scheduled to be completed in July 2015 with an annual power generation capacity of 10,650,000kWh, which is equivalent to the amount of electricity consumed by about 2,900 normal households.
As a power producer, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding has been operating a 17MW solar power plant at its Oita Office in Oita City and a 2MW plant at its Tamano Office in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture.
