Konica Minolta Inc announced March 4, 2014, that it has developed a white OLED lighting panel with an efficiency of 131lm/W and a light-emitting area of 15cm2.

Though the company has not disclosed the chromatic coordinates, color temperature or color rendering index (CRI) of the panel, it has the highest level of efficiency of any white OLED lighting panel having an almost flat light extraction layer.

Konica Minolta considers the latest panel as the high-efficiency version of the 103lm/W prototype that it exhibited at Ceatec Japan 2013, which took place in October 2013. The new panel was realized by using blue phosphorescent materials as well as optimal internal light extraction technology and organic layer structure based on a simulation to improve light extraction efficiency, the company said.
