Green Light for 250MW Solar Project in Japan
The government of Okayama Prefecture announced Jan 31, 2014, that it has given permission to build a mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant in a former salt field in Setouchi City.
The applicant is a limited liability company (LLC) based in Tokyo. According to the plan made by the LLC, solar power generation facilities will be built in an area of about 260ha in the former salt field (about 500ha). The construction will start within 30 days after the permission was given and is scheduled to be completed in September 2018.
According to a proposal selected and announced by the government in September 2012, a 250MW solar plant will be built in the future along with data centers, water parks and other facilities that are expected to contribute to energizing the local community, preserving natural environment and promoting cultures.
