Daikyo to Sell Electricity Generated at Condo Buildings for Residents
Daikyo Inc announced Jan 16, 2014, that it will introduce the "service of selling all the electricity generated with a solar power system" to its Lions Mansion condominium building for the first time.
The system will be installed on the rooftop of the "Lions Near Kumegawa Station" (15-story, 58-unit condominium building in Higashimurayama City, Tokyo), whose units will be available for sale in late March 2014. All of the electricity generated will be sold, and the income from electricity sales will be deducted from residents' electricity bills.
When combined with the "visualization" of the electricity consumption and "bulk electricity purchase service," the solar system is expected to cut electricity bills by 27%, Daikyo said. The service of selling all the electricity will be provided in cooperation with Orix Electric Power Corp.
Daikyo introduced a system to purchase the amount of electricity necessary for all the units in a condominium building at once to its Lions Mansion condominium buildings in tandem with Orix Electric Power in 2011 as the bulk electricity purchase service. In June 2013, Daikyo started to install the "Mansion Energy Management System (MEMS)" and smart meters in all of its newly-built Lions Mansion condominium buildings to which the bulk electricity purchase service was introduced. The MEMS is used to manage energy use in a building.
As a result, the amounts of power consumed by the entire building and each unit, respectively, were visualized, drawing residents' attention to the amount of power consumed. With the effects of the bulk electricity purchase service and visualization, Daikyo has cut electricity bills by about 15%.
This time, in addition to the bulk electricity purchase service and MEMS, Daikyo introduced the service of selling all the solar electricity to its Lions Mansion for the first time. By using the income from electricity sales for residents, their electricity bills are expected to be cut by about 12%. Therefore, the company considers that it is possible to cut electricity bills by about 27% by combining the service with the effects of the visualization (about 10%) and the bulk purchase service (5%).
