Rockchip Electronics, a China-based major semiconductor manufacturer, exhibited smart glasses that look like Google Glass in its booth at 2014 International CES, which runs from Jan 7 to 10, 2014, in Las Vegas, the US.

The company intends to produce smart glasses as an OEM (original equipment manufacturer), it said.

The smart glasses have almost the same specifications as Google Glass and are equipped with a 720p display, wireless LAN/Bluetooth 4.0 capabilities, camera capable of taking 1,080p images, microphone, etc. It plans to start to ship the glasses to its clients in mid-2014. The company expects a procurement cost of US$200-300 and a retail price of US$500-600.

Though the exhibited glasses looked rough, Rockchip Electronics will make different frames in response to requests from its clients, it said.
