Orix Corp has started operations of a mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant that it was building on a site owned by Sankyo Tateyama Inc (Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture).

It was announced Dec 17, 2013. For the power plant, "Orix Imizu Mega-solar Power Plant," Solar Frontier K K supplied 15,520 CIS-based solar panels to realize an output power of 2.483MW. And its PV inverters were supplied by Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC).

The Orix Imizu Mega-solar Power Plant is the second mega-solar plant that Orix started to operate in Toyama Prefecture. Its first mega-solar plant in the prefecture is located on the roof of the Tonami Plant (Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture) of Hokuriku Coca-Cola Bottling Co Ltd and has an output power of 1.5MW.

Orix also employed Solar Frontier's solar panel and TMEIC's PV inverter for a solar power plant in Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, highly evaluating their power generation capacities and reliabilities.

Orix aims to realize a total power generation capacity of 300MW with mega-solar plants built on the ground and 100MW with plants installed on roofs in three years from the fiscal year ending March 31, 2013.
