Panasonic Shows Artificial Photosynthesis of Methane
Panasonic Corp showed an artificial photosynthesis system that generates methane (CH4) at Eco-Products 2013, a trade show on green technologies, which runs from Dec 12 to 14, 2013, in Tokyo.
This is the first time that the company has showed the system to the public.
Panasonic has already succeeded in producing formic acid (HCOOH) with an artificial photosynthesis system. And it recently realized the generation of methane. The ratio of the fuel energy of synthesized methane to input light energy is 0.04%.
"To commercialize the technology, we aim to achieve a ratio of 1% or higher," the company said.
