Sekisui Chemical Co Ltd exhibited film-type lithium-ion (Li-ion) rechargeable battery and dye-sensitized photovoltaic (PV) cell at Eco-Products 2013, a trade show on green technologies, which runs from Dec 12 to 14, 2013, in Tokyo.

Sekisui Chemical announced them Dec 9, 2013. The "X Type" of the film-type Li-ion rechargeable battery measures slightly larger than 600 x 300 x 1mm. It can be gently bent.

"We expect to take advantage of its slimness and light weight and attach it to the bottom of an automobile and so forth," the company said.

Sekisui Chemical also showed a smaller battery, "F2 Type," and demonstrated that it can be repeatedly bent and stretched.

As for the film-type dye-sensitized PV cell, the company used a small module to charge a smartphone in a demonstration.
