Toshiba Mitsubishi-Electric Industrial Systems Corp (TMEIC) announced Nov 14, 2013, the sales performance of its PV inverters for solar power generation systems for the first half of fiscal 2013 starting in April 2013.

According to the results, the company received orders for 780MW of PV inverters and shipped 640MW of PV inverters during the period.

Including the latest results, TMEIC has received orders for about 2GW of PV inverters since July 2012, when the feed-in tariff (FIT) scheme became effective in Japan. The company stressed that 2GW of solar power plants are about 430 times as large as Tokyo Dome (about 20km2). Of the orders, 500 or more were for mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plants with 1MW or higher capacity.

TMEIC forecasts that it will receive orders for more than 1,500MW of PV inverters in fiscal 2013 starting in April 2013 and expects that it will keep receiving orders for and shipping PV inverters at the same pace. And the company intends to strengthen its systems to expand sales of PV inverters as well as to increase production capacity for them.
