Solar Panels, O&M Services Provided by Same Firm to Kajima's Power Plant
Kajima Corp, a Japan-based major general contractor, is developing a mega-solar (large-scale solar) power plant with an output power of about 2MW in Nasu-machi, Nasu-gun, Tochigi Prefecture, planning to start power generation at the end of November 2013.
Kajima aims to make use of the company's land adjoining Nasu Chifuriko Country Club, a gulf course owned and run by the company. This will the first time that the company sells electricity generated by a solar power plant.
For the mega-solar project, about 2MW of solar panels will be installed using an area of about 3ha, and about 2 million kWh of electricity is expected to be generated each year. The solar panels are manufactured by Next Energy & Resources Co Ltd (Komagane City, Nagano Prefecture) at a subcontract manufacturing plant in China. Next Energy & Resources will also provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services via Kajima Tatemono Sogo Kanri Co Ltd, which belongs to the Kajima group.
"By providing both solar panels (solar cell modules) and maintenance services, it becomes possible to smoothly test and replace the modules and make good on the warranty even after starting the operation of the plant, enabling to extract the maximum performance from the module," Next Energy & Resources said.
