Mazda Motor Corp announced the overview of the hatchback model of the Mazda3.

The new model was developed by using Mazda's "Skyactiv" technology under the design theme of "Kodou," which literally means "movement of spirit." The company will release the vehicle in North America in the fall of 2013 and in other regions after that.

The new model of the Mazda3 has a design similar to those of the CX-5 and Mazda6. And it is equipped with the "i-ACtivsense," an advanced safety technology that helps the driver notice and judge dangers. Furthermore, for the vehicle, Mazda employed a "connectivity system" using a new human-machine interface (HMI) that prioritizes safe driving for the first time.

The engines available for the vehicle are 1.5-2.5L gasoline engines and a 2.2L diesel engine.
