New Blood Glucose Meter Can Be Wirelessly Connected to Smartphone
Arkray Inc released a new self-monitoring blood glucose meter, "Glucocard G Black," May 8, 2013.
Self-monitoring blood glucose meters are the company's main products. The new product is the first self-monitoring blood glucose meter in Japan that can be wirelessly connected to a smartphone. The company emphasized that the wireless connection will make it easier for users to control their blood glucose levels.
The Bluetooth 4.0 is used for wireless data transmission. The Glucocard G Black supports Smart e-SMBG, a smartphone application for diabetes management, enabling to easily draw graphs from collected data. The application does not require a registration or monthly fee. Currently, it is only available to iPhone users.
The Glucocard G Black is equipped with a color LCD panel. This time, Arkray improved visibility and added a function to show low blood glucose values in blue and high blood glucose values in red.
The new product will be exhibited at the 56th Annual Meeting of the Japan Diabetes Society, which will take place from May 16 to 18, 2013, in Kumamoto City, Japan.
