Rohm Co Ltd prototyped its second-generation organic EL lighting panel that uses a phosphorescent material for red light emission and exhibited it at the 3rd LED/OLED Lighting Technology Expo.

The exposition runs from Jan 19 to 21, 2011, in Tokyo.

The organic EL lighting panel developed by Rohm has a device structure called "Hybrid MPE (multi photon emission)," which is formed by stacking devices that emit lights with different wavelengths. In the structure, a phosphorescent material is used for red light emission, and fluorescent materials are used for green and blue light emissions. The luminous efficiency of the panel is 25 to 30lm/W, which is relatively high for a panel produced in volume.
