Sharp Corp will release a 60-inch touch-sensitive display for business use Aug 31, 2010, in Japan.

By using an accompanying pen, it is possible to write characters directly on the display and to operate the display. Therefore, it can be used as an electronic whiteboard in an office or a school. Characters and figures handwritten on the display can be stored as data and printed out, making it easy to create and distribute conference minutes.

There is no manufacturer's suggested retail price, but the expected retail price of the display is ¥1 million (approx US$11,659).

This time, Sharp integrated an LCD display with a touch panel to reduce parallax. Also, it employed the "infrared ray interruption method" to enhance the detection accuracy of the touch panel so that fine characters can be handwritten and touch operation becomes more accurate.

The LCD panel features Sharp's "UV2A" photo-alignment technology, which enhances image quality and reduces power consumption, and an LED backlight unit.
