Murakami Sangyo Co Ltd's straw mat embedded with LEDs
Koizumi Lighting Technology Corp's booth is based on the concept of luxury clothing store.
An image of the Tokyo Sky Tree was displayed at Panasonic Electric Works Co Ltd's booth.
Japanese manufacturers emphasized designs and new applications at LED Next Stage 2010, which took place from March 9 to 12, 2010, in Tokyo while firms from other Asian countries such as China and Taiwan mainly showcased street lamps, light bulbs, etc.
The booths of Asian companies were illuminated with dazzling white lights. On the other hand, a variety of soft lights were seen at the booths of Japanese firms.
Asian companies exhibited mainly LED light bulbs, LED fluorescent lamps and other general-purpose LED lighting devices. Many of them emitted white light, with which a high brightness can be easily achieved, though a few of daylight-color bulbs were displayed.
Moreover, Asian firms put emphasis on street lamps more than Japanese companies. In fact, many of them exhibited street lamps at their booths. They commercialized LED street lamps probably because China is now promoting the introduction of LED street lamps.
Though Japanese lighting equipment makers and LED makers also showed some LED lighting devices, they emphasized on designs and new applications as a whole. It is because the competition in the Japanese LED market has been rapidly heating up in terms of price, luminous flux, product lineup, etc especially for LED light bulbs since the summer of 2009. As a result, it became difficult to differentiate LED products while it became easier to develop a variety of applications.
At the exhibition, Murakami Sangyo Co Ltd showed a straw mat embedded with LEDs, Effect Meiji Corp combined a stretchable cloth and LEDs and Koizumi Lighting Technology Corp created an area based on the concept of luxury clothing store. Also, Panasonic Electric Works Co Ltd displayed an image of the Tokyo Sky Tree, which will be lighted up with the company's LEDs under the themes of grace and smartness.
