[CES] Casio Announces New Digital Cameras, Photo Frame, Projectors
Casio Computer Co Ltd announced its new compact digital cameras, digital photo frame and projectors at the press conference that the company had prior to the 2010 International Consumer Electronics Show (CES).
The company unveiled two types of digital cameras. One is the "EX-FH100," a compact camera that has a high-speed shooting function. It features a back-illuminated CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom. Its price is about US$350.
The other camera features the "Dynamic Photo," a function to synthesize a movie and a still picture. This camera will come in three models, the "EX-H15," "EX-Z2000" and "EX-Z550."
This time, Casio Computer added new functions to the Dynamic Photo. For example, it is now possible to synthesize two movies with one still picture and change the size of a movie to be synthesized. Furthermore, all of the three models will come with a new image processor, "Exilim Engine 5.0."
The two types of digital cameras are scheduled to be released in about March 2010 in the US.
Converting image into 'painting'
The new digital photo frame is called "Digital Art Frame" and can convert an image into eight types of "paintings" such as a watercolor painting and an oil painting. The screen size is about 10 inches. The release date and the price have not been determined yet, Casio Computer said.
The new projectors are so-called "hybrid type," which uses LEDs and a laser device for the light source. Specifically, they are equipped with red LEDs and a blue laser device. The green color is created by using the blue laser.
The use of the LEDs and the laser device increased the brightness of the projectors. The brightness of the stationary models ranges from 2,000 to 3,000lm, which is about ten times brighter than that of a normal LED projector, Casio Computer said.
The company will start to release the projectors one by one in January 2010. Also, it has already developed small-size models whose brightness is several hundred lumens.
