Fujitsu Ltd held a press conference Nov 12, 2009, to explain about four handsets that it will release from winter 2009 for NTT Docomo Inc's mobile phone subscribers.

The company will release the "F-01B," "F-02B," "F-03B" and "F-04B," whose common features are (1) enhanced camera function and (2) improved water and dust resistance.

As for (1), the F-01B, F-03B and F-04B come with a 12.2-Mpixel CMOS camera, while the F-02B is equipped with an 8.1-Mpixel CMOS camera. In regard to (2), the F-01B, F-02B and F-03B comply with IPX5/IPX7/IPX8 waterproof standards and IP5X dustproof standards.

F-01B

The F-01B comes with "ETGA Swing Lesson," an application that checks golf swing based on the data collected by a sensor embedded in the handset. Fujitsu showed off this technology at CEATEC JAPAN 2009, a trade show that took place in October 2009 in Japan (See related article 1).

F-02B

The F-02B features the "fragrance chip," to which perfume can be sprayed, on its battery cover. Perfumes contain many secret ingredients in addition to alcohol. So, if perfume is sprayed directly to a battery cover, it will be damaged.

The battery cover of the F-02B is made of a corrosion-resistant material, and porous ceramics is used for the fragrance chip so that it can keep the fragrance of perfume. Fujitsu will offer a model developed in collaboration with fashion brand Folli Follie.

F-03B

The F-03B is a water- and dust-proof handset with a thickness of 13.9mm. Also, the chassis of the "premium models" are made with titanium and 18-karat gold. They are several thousand yen more expensive than the normal model, Fujitsu said.

F-04B

The F-04B is named "Separate Keitai" and can be separated into a display unit and a keyboard unit (See related article 2). When combined with the "projector unit," it can project a movie or still image stored in the handset.

At the press conference, Fujitsu showed the concept models of a scanner unit, printer unit, game controller unit and piano keyboard unit for the F-04B. However, the company has not yet decided when to release them.
