Panasonic Corp will release a series of white goods whose power consumption is lowered by utilizing sensors to reduce unnecessary operation.

The company uses many sensors to determine the operational status of the white goods and optimally operate them in accordance with the status. It aims to save energy while maintaining the comfort and convenience.

Thus far, as for the items that are not measured by sensors, those white goods have been operated at the maximum power. By increasing the number of sensors used to determine the operational status, Panasonic intends to control the white goods more accurately to improve the energy-saving effect.

The company named the energy-saving function "Eco Navi." One of the first products equipped with the function is "Syunkan Attaka Toilette," a toilet seat featuring a cleansing jet of water that was released in 2005.

Because of the success of the toilet seat, Panasonic considered that there is a high demand for products with energy-saving features and high convenience, and it decided to use Eco Navi as a catchphrase for all kinds of its white goods.

For a starter, Panasonic announced two washing machines and six refrigerators. Also, it added the catchphrase to five already-announced products (dish washer/dryer, vacuum cleaner, fluorescent lamp, heat pump water heater and toilet seat with a cleansing jet of water) that have functions equivalent to the Eco Navi. Furthermore, the company plans to equip its air conditioner to be released within days with the Eco Navi function.

Panasonic aims to be widely known as a manufacturer of energy-saving products.
