NEC Access Technica Ltd developed a compact router featuring Mobile WiMAX and wirelss LAN capabilities and exhibited it at Interop Tokyo 2009, an exhibition taking place in Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

The router can create a wireless LAN network anywhere in the area of Mobile WiMAX. Equipped with a Li-ion secondary battery, it can be used outdoors too.

Though NEC Access Technica did not disclose the capacity of the battery, the router can continuously be used for about two hours. The company has not yet determined when it will commercialize the router but said, "We will launch it concurrently with the expansion of the service area of Mobile WiMAX."

In addition, NEC Access Technica released a Mobile Wimax adapter for PCs June 8, 2009.
