GainSpan Licenses Wipro-NewLogic's WiLD 802.11 WLAN IP for Wi-Fi Sensor SoC

Wipro-NewLogic, the semiconductor IP business of Wipro Ltd, has announced that GainSpan has licensed its WiLD 802.11 WLAN MAC, modem and radio IP for use in its GS1010 system-on-chip (SoC) for Wi-Fi sensors.

The GS1010 SoC is a highly integrated SoC combining a complete WLAN sub-system including the radio with an application CPU, SRAM and Flash memory plus multiple I/Os for sensor connectivity. The SoC is architected for extreme low power operations and features an intelligent power management. Depending on the application, OEM products that incorporate the GS1010 SoC are claimed to achieve battery life as long as 10 years on a single AA battery.

The WiLD IP provides a complete 802.11 WLAN solution including MAC, modem and RF (radio technology). The IP supports both the station and the access point mode.
