In line with its commitment to develop LTE solutions, ZTE Corp continues to inject investments in FDD-LTE and TD-LTE development initiatives using the talents of 2,000 experienced engineers specializing in GSM/CDMA and 3G technology at its R&D facility. For TD-LTE alone, ZTE has hired some 900 R&D staff to join the task force.

The company said it is investing Rmb6 billion to build an R&D facility and production base in Xian, China that will primarily be focused on research initiatives on post-3G technology developments and creating LTE solutions for its handset business.

Backed by a large pool of R&D experts and injection of R&D funds, the company aims to achieve its goal of developing and commercializing FDD-LTE solutions in the second half of 2009, and TD-LTE by 2010, both on a small scale.
