Softbank Mobile Corp launched "iPhone 3G," a mobile phone of Apple Inc, in Japan July 11, 2008. A commemoration ceremony was held at Softbank's Omotesando Store in Tokyo at 7 am (See related article).

However, Nikkei Electronics went to the store not only for reporting the event but also for obtaining an iPhone 3G quickly and breaking it down for our readers.

The Omotesando Store does not accept any pre-orders of iPhone 3G. So, Nikkei Electronics Teardown Squad joined the queue at 3 pm July 10 to purchase one without fail. At this point, 110-120 people were waiting in the line, so we became a little anxious. But a store clerk assured us, saying, "You need not worry."

After the ceremony, we finished necessary procedures without problems and obtained an iPhone at 9 am.

What kind of structure does iPhone 3G have inside? We began to disassemble it immediately.
