Offering new TV experiences

Q: Can users really find programs they are after only with the given search words?

Ariyoshi: We've added a variety of efforts so users can easily search target programs. One of them is the "always watch" capability. If you register certain programs, names of performers and words such as "the gasoline tax," the Spider Pro will derive related programs aired during the recorded period from every channel.

If you register a name of a performer, the Spider Pro will automatically extract not only the programs, for which the name is listed in the program guide provided by TV stations, but also commercials and short scenes that the performer showed up as a guest in the program.

You can also search and play TV commercials based on the names of sponsors and products as well as product categories. It is also available to play the videos extracted as search results in sequence.

Q: Why have you made commercial search available?

Ariyoshi: There are most likely users who say, "I want to view the commercials in which my favorite performer appears." We sometimes feel like viewing a program for a certain performer, whom we happened to see in a commercial and have become fond of. Users interested in cars can just watch car commercials, for example.

During a week, the same commercials are aired over and over. It will make no sense if all of the same commercials are indicated in search results. We, therefore, distinguish the same commercials by analyzing video signals.

No matter how many times the commercial was aired during the week, only one commercial is displayed in the search results. To put it the other way around, you can recognize how many kinds of commercials concerning the search word were aired during the week at a glance.
