Sony Computer Entertainment Inc (SCE) has postponed the launch of the "PlayStation Home" virtual space service for the PlayStation 3 again from the spring of 2008 to the fall of 2008.

SCE is planning to begin a Closed Beta test targeting some users from the summer of 2008. The test will be shifted to an Open Beta service targeting all applicants in the fall of this year, which will be the actual start of the service.

"We are likely to extend the capabilities of the initial Beta service (such as Web services) for some time at the beginning," said a spokesperson from the SCE PR department.

Commenting on the consecutive postponements, SCE's President and Group CEO Kazuo Hirai said, "PS3 users will have to wait a little longer, but we are committed to offering a better quality of service by spending more time on development."
