Connectors for the earphone and AC adapter were placed on either side of the chassis. These connectors were designed to be hermetically sealed by a lid with a gasket. Also, the mechanical user interface buttons on one side were designed to provide a better watertight seal through the use of rubber, etc.

The battery charging connector, however, was not sealed by rubber or anything similar. It should be noted that, although the charging connector on the photo is split into two pieces, it is actually a single part. This is because we broke the part during the teardown.
