Mitsubishi Electric Corp developed a 65-inch laser rear projection TV intended for mass-production. The product was unveiled at an event held by the company concurrently with the 2008 International CES, which is taking place in Las Vegas.

Thus far, the company has focused on the production of laser TV prototypes. Compared to existing prototypes, the new product was "improved to be better suited for mass-production," a demonstrator from the company said.

Major improvements of the latest development relate to the laser light source, optical system, appearance design, etc. The laser TV was remodeled so that each of the red, green and blue laser lights has a higher output. According to the company, the optical system was also drastically revamped for use in a laser TV. The appearance was redesigned with the adoption of narrower bezels.

The main specifications are a color gamut of 190% of NTSC, a 1920 x 1080 resolution progressive display and a frame frequency of 60Hz.
