Leading-edge technologies and new products of flat panel display (FPD) converge on FPD International 2007. The exhibition is open for three days from Oct 24 to 26, 2007, at Pacifico Yokohama, Yokohama City, Japan.
The number of exhibitors is 330 (269 domestic firms and 61 overseas firms), and the number of booths is 885.
"The ratio of FPDs to the volume of shipments of television sets goes on increasing and will exceed 60% in 2011," said Masayasu Tsunematsu, chief executive director of Semiconductor Equipment Association of Japan (SEAJ), at the opening ceremony.
In 2011, the volume of shipments of television sets will reach 200 million. The ratio of FPDs to the volume of shipments of television sets will surpass 50% in Europe and the US in 2007, and the ratio will exceed 50% in China in 2010, Tsunematsu said. Also, the volume of shipments of FPDs is expected to go beyond that of CRT-based televisions in 2009.
