The biggest electronics industry fair in Japan, "CEATEC Japan 2007" will finally open tomorrow, Oct. 2, 2007. With only one day to go, exhibitors were still setting up displays and rehearsing presentations today.

It has become chilly, with the temperature sharply dropping in the Kanto district over the last few days, but the CEATEC site, in which final touches were being made in haste, was filled with unusual excitement.

There were people finishing preparations early and leaving the site in twos and threes, even though it was before 5 p.m.

The so-called "component section," where exhibitors were steadily making preparations. Many booths were already completed with no one left around.

Although it was a day before the opening, TV stations were already making reports inside. Omron's real-time smile measurement technology demonstration was aired in an evening news that day.

The "Home & Personal Zone, Digital Network Stage" showcases digital home appliances including thin-panel TVs. Items such as currently hot slim TVs were brought in and set up one after the other. It might be attributable to the dynamic displays, dancing and short performances that many of the exhibitors in this zone provide, but the booth construction appeared to be taking longer than in other zones.
