Nintendo Co., Ltd. has revealed its new portable game console, the Game Boy Micro. The handheld compact console features a 2-inch color LCD screen, operation buttons and an arrow key. The new game console supports the game Game Boy Advance (GBA) cartridge so a wide variety of GBA titles can be played on the device. The Game Boy Micro is slated to launch this fall.
The Game Boy Micro has a simple body with the arrow key and buttons located on both sides of the LCD screen. It measures 10 cm wide, 5 cm tall, 1.8 cm thick and weighs 78 g. It uses a processor similar to the one used in the GBA, thus having an equivalent processing power. It comes with a special rechargeable lithium-ion battery. When the LCD screen backlight is used, the battery life is approximately 10 hours, about the same of the Game Boy Advance SP. Unlike the Nintendo DS, the Game Boy Micro does not have a wireless LAN function, nor can it read Nintendo DS cartridges. The Game Boy Micro does have a headphone terminal.
