Qiantu Motor Co Ltd exhibited a quasi-volume-production model of the first supercar-type electric vehicle (EV) manufactured by a China-based company at Auto Shanghai 2017, which was open to the public from April 21 to 28, 2017.
Qiantu will start volume production of the EV at the Suzhou Plant at the end of 2017. Its price will be about Rmb700,000 (excluding a subsidy from the Chinese government).
The EV measures 4,630 (L) x 2,065 (W) x 1,255mm (H) (1,180mm in the case of the soft cover model), and its wheelbase is 2,650mm. Its platform and body frame consist of aluminum alloy parts, and its cover is made of CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced plastic).
The maximum output and maximum torque of the EV are 300kWh and 600N·m, respectively. Its speed reaches 100km/h (approx 62mpg) from zero in less than 4.6 seconds. Its maximum speed is 200km/h, and its drive range is more than 300km (approx 186 miles). It is a four-wheel-drive EV driven with two motors (front and rear motors). Qiantu manufactures its battery in house.
The battery is a ternary lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery (capacity: 60kWh). The EV uses 12 battery packs (capacity: 25Ah each). Three packs are located in the central part of the EV while the other nine are located in the rear part. In the rapid charging mode, the battery can be charged to 80% capacity in 45 minutes.
"We obtained patents for technologies to control battery temperature," Qiantu said. "It is cooled by cooling liquid. The package of the battery pack is not made of metal but made of composite resin material in the aim of protecting the battery from ambient temperature change and keeping the temperature around the battery within the range of 15-35°C. The heat generated by the battery is cooled by the cooling liquid system."
